Steps in Interior Designing That Every Student Must Learn
When we talk about interior designing courses, it not just involves knowledge and skill of interior designing, whereas everything that it takes to execute a project and complete. The entire process of creating and executing interior designing tasks involves many iterations which should be explained to the client prior.

1. Meeting the client –
The process of interior designing begins by meeting the client and understanding the client’s requirements and preferences along with the budget. The meeting is meant to collect information so that the designing suggestions should be made as per client’s expectations. The interior designer may also raise questions for deeper clarity.
2. Research –
After meeting the client and understanding the client requirements, the interior designer concentrates on research. The research involves digging for interior designing concepts that are more accurate to the client’s design. As an interior designer, you spend some time on planning the entire execution process and checking out regulations.
3. Proposal –
Once the research and planning is done, the interior designer prepares the sketches required to share a proposal with the client. This is to understand whether the designing strategy is in line with the client’s preferences and budget. Any deviations can be easily fixed at this stage with minimal discussion.
4. Costing & timeline –
The interior designer shall propose cost along with timeline to complete the task. This may require another brainstorming session with the client and the designs may be altered on client’s suggestion. This stage ensures the beginning of the task within a proper framework. The extension to this step may involve another meeting with the client to reconfirm on the suggested changes.
5. Presentation –
This time the interior designer may present the sketches or drafts using an appropriate software that gives an impressive appearance and clear understanding to the client. Usually, the interior designers learn these tools during their interior designing courses. In case if their interior designing institute had not covered this module, then they can upgrade themselves separately.
6. Approval –
After reviewing the designs the client approves the work which will be a confirmation to the interior designer to execute the work on the chosen design.
7. Implementation –
The interior designer collects appropriate workmen and suppliers that fits in the approved budget. Throughout the project, the interior designer monitors the work and ensures that everything is going in accordance to the plan. The interior designer updates the client regularly and considers any red flags or suggestions offered by the client. Beyond this stage there is no possibility to make changes. Hence, interior designer make every attempt to continuously interact with the client at every stage of development.
